The game launched on Apple Arcade and Steam last year, and following on from the popularity of the title launching on those platforms, Studio Revolution Software – creators of the popular Broken Sword series – and French publisher Microids have reached a deal that allows the game to launch on consoles. The retail and digital versions of the game will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in Q3 2021. If you’re unfamiliar with the game, the story comes from the mind of Charles Cecil, creator of the Broken Sword series, with art direction by Dave Gibbons, who you may recognize as the legendary comic book artist behind Watchmen (amongst others). Beyond A Steel Sky is the sequel to the classic 1994 cult hit, Beneath a Steel Sky. “Beyond a Steel Sky stands as a thrilling story of loyalty and redemption set in an eerie and terrifying world of AI-driven social controls,” says a blurb for the game. “Set a decade after the events of the first game, Beyond a Steel Sky immerses players once again in the captivating Union City – a dystopian cyberpunk city full of mysterious, sinister secrets.”
